No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.
Some of what we know:
Ted Cruz was born on December 22, 1970 in Calgary, Canada.
His mother was born in the United States.
His father came from Cuba in the 1950s.
Everyone is free to post any legal theories about the issues in this forum.
Let's suppose for a minute that Ted Cruz's biological father was Osama bin Laden and was born in Afghanistan where he lived for the first twenty years of his life. Should he be considered a natural born citizen who is eligible to become president? The framers put the NBC clause in the constitution for a reason.
